Our story begins on August 30, 2007. That was when Lori rescued a severely malnourished 33 year old Quarter Horse mare by the name of Lady. She lived on a 5 acre wooded lot with no grass. She was fed once a day and despite having only 5 teeth, she received no senior diet. She got one flake of hay that she couldn't chew and the 3 other horses on the property chased her away from what little food she had. After reporting her to Animal Control, Lady was initially seized, and eventually surrendered by her owner. She was taken to Lori's neighbors, Suzanne and Mike Funk, who agreed to foster her. Three days later, Lori, Suzanne and Mike formally adopted her.

The following week, headlines were created when a sick horse was lifted by a bulldozer into its newly dug grave. The only thing, the poor horse was alive. Thankfully, Animal Control was called before the horse was buried. Unfortunately, the horse was not able to be saved and was euthanized. Another horse on the property was seized by AC. Severely malnourished, the 23 year old Standardbred mare was taken to Animal Control, where Lori picked her up. The mare, renamed Zoe, was adopted in February.

We feel that these horses came to us for a reason. It has been our individual dreams to someday run a rescue facility. So we are now proceeding with our dream! We feel that there is a need for such a place in Central Florida. Please help us realize our dream!
